Personal networks are crucial in improving your professional and personal development and also for referral purposes. Unlike operational network, this type of network is built externally to your organization. Both current and future interests determine the orientation of the contacts here. The members of this network should be chosen by you. The network is broad and can link you to prospective referrals.

It is important not to hide under the shadow of your company when you are employed to be a manager. You have to get yourself involved in charitable organizations, professional associations and various other forums and platforms to make your network wider. The reason for this is more than showing up but it is an opportunity to get involved in various activities.

Networking is not all about whom you know but it is all about the people who know you and who those people know. To get people to know you, you simply have to become visible in activities. Professional association events are simply tasked with the responsibility of assisting at the registration table where you get in touch with people coming in and also they get in touch with you.

People will see you as someone worthy of their relationship if you and your team are out to make their jobs easier for them. Giving is much like a boomerang; it often comes back to the person who released it.
