Marie Avis Campbell was a significant figure in the community of Cape Porpoise for a good number of years. After a protracted bout with illness, she passed away on November 15, 2022 in Ledgewood Manor in Windham. She was 90 years old at the time.
On November 22, 1931, in the town of Sanford, she was one of nine children that Melvin and Marie (Russell) Floyd welcomed into the world. She graduated from Sanford High School in 1950 as a member of the school’s inaugural senior class.
Marie spent a significant portion of her life working at the Cape Porpoise Post Office. Marie Campbell and her husband Dana Campbell tied the knot in 1951 and were married for the next 65 years till Dana Campbell passed away in 2016.

Marie and Dana were very close and spent a lot of time together at family gatherings and on road vacations. Marie, who was a member of the Church on the Cape and frequently contributed her time and energy to the various initiatives that the church was working on, It was just mentioned that she has been going to the church for the past sixty-five years.
Aside from that, she was a member of the Kennebunkport chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star, which was called the Aurora Chapter. Marie recently resided in Standish with her sister Helen, where she was an active member of the Standish Congregational Church and the Standish Senior Citizens.
Her sister Helen Hebert, who lives in Standish, and her many nieces and nephews, as well as her friends and the people who go to Church on the Cape, will miss her a great deal. They are among the individuals who will miss her the most.
The viewing and funeral service will be held at Bibber Memorial Chapel, which is located at 67 Summer Street in Kennebunk, on Tuesday, November 22, 2022, from 10 to 11 in the morning. Friends and family are welcome to attend. We are going to bury the body at the Arundel Cemetery. The leadership responsibilities will fall on Pastor Sammi Maxwell.
