Dak Prescott was born on July 29, 1993 in Louisiana to Peggy Prescott, a manager at a truck repair shop. He was the youngest of three children and attended Haughton High School where he was a standout on the football field, helping his high school win the 1-AAAA championship. He then went on to Mississippi State where he became the fourth player in FBS history to pass for 60 touchdowns and carry for 40 touchdowns in a career.
