A delivery driver who was apparently attacked and killed by dogs in Missouri may have been mauled by canines, authorities said on Tuesday.
The driver was discovered after an emergency call was placed about an Amazon truck that had been parked for hours, the Springfield Police Department said.
“It appears that the delivery driver was attacked by dogs that were at the residence,” the police said.
Police said they didn’t know how long it would take to complete an investigation, nor how many dogs were involved.
“Due to the severity of the wounds inflicted, it is unknown how many dogs attacked the delivery driver,” authorities said.
A spokesperson for the Greene County Humane Society said the agency was working with police to investigate the incident and that it would make sure the dogs weren’t a threat to the public.
The driver has not yet been identified and authorities did not immediately return The Daily Beast’s request for comment.
