A Texas firefighter who was reported missing in the Gulf of Mexico 10 miles from his hotel in Cancun has been found dead, Mexican authorities said.
Elijah Snow was on vacation to celebrate his wedding anniversary when he was reported missing early Sunday morning. Mexican authorities found his body in the same area they had been searching Monday afternoon, according to local reports.
His family had already held a funeral for him in Dallas, as authorities had not yet located his body. “The Snow family would like to thank the Dallas Fire Department and everyone who has helped in the search effort,” his family said in a statement.
“They would also like to thank the Mexican authorities for their efforts.” Snow’s wife, Sarah, said she last heard from her husband when he sent a text message that said: “I love you so much.”
