It’s been 25 years since the release of the beloved Nintendo 64 game Goldeneye 007, but it’s finally making a comeback! Soon, gamers will be able to experience the game once again, this time with 4K resolution, smoother frame rate, and achievement tracking – all on Xbox consoles. Best of all, the game will also be available on Nintendo Switch with online play for Nintendo Switch Online Plus Expansion Pack members.
Xbox Game Pass
Goldeneye 007 will soon be available on Xbox Game Pass, although no exact date has been revealed yet. It’s worth noting that the online version of the game will be exclusive to the Nintendo Switch version – but that may change in the future if enough people request it.
Nintendo Switch Online Plus Expansion Pack
According to the official 007.com website, Goldeneye 007 will be coming soon for Nintendo Switch Online Plus Expansion Pack members. However, the game is not included in the list of older titles coming back in 2022 and 2023 as part of the Expansion Pack.
A Long Time Coming
It took 25 years for all parties involved in the franchise to agree to release the game on current gen consoles. Back in its prime, Goldeneye 007 was the best first-person shooter for the Nintendo 64 console, making it a fun game to play with friends.
Other Games Releasing
Other classic games are being released on modern consoles as well. Hexen, a magical medieval-inspired game released in the mid-90s, is now available on PC with a few visual enhancements. Quake 1 and 2 RTX have also made a comeback, as well as Shadow Warrior, which has been released with an all-new set of games.
Final Thoughts
It’s exciting to see Goldeneye 007 making a comeback after 25 years of waiting. Will it ever come to Steam? Only time will tell! But until then, gamers can enjoy the classic game on their Xbox or Nintendo Switch consoles.
