The past few days have been really hard for Raven Saunders. She came into the Olympic games with a heavy heart, knowing that her mother had been diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer and had been bedridden for the past year.
Raven Saunders found out on Tuesday that her mother Clarissa had died. Clarissa Saunders, the mother of shot put silver medalist Raven Saunders, died in Orlando, Florida after watching her daughter win at the Tokyo Games for the first time.
On Sunday, Raven won a silver medal in the shot-put shot at the Tokyo games and returned home to find out that her mother had died less than 36 hours after arriving back from Japan.
