Julieta’s magical powers spread through food. One way she has the ability to heal people is by making arepas con queso, which give a variety of health benefits. In one scene, after Julieta heals a cut on Mirabel’s hand, Maribel sighs and says “It’s certainly not my mother’s gift”. Julieta does this through her arepas con quesos (the Colombian equivalent of bread) that can heal any malady.
“At some point I should go and see her again, and offer to cook for her,” Julieta said. “She probably needs someone to cook for her.”
“You could cook for her now,” Mirabel said.
