Second lifeguard dies in freak accident at Jersey Shore

A second teenage lifeguard has died in a freak accident on the Jersey Shore, the same beach where a girl died a week before after being hit by a wave.

According to witnesses, 19yearold Keith Pinto was struck by lightning Sunday afternoon as he watched over the beach at Lavallette. The strike threw the teen from his lifeguard stand, according to witnesses. Emergency crews performed CPR on Pinto as he was taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The Asbury Park Press reports that Pinto and another lifeguard were clearing the shoreline when lightning struck, killing the other teen. The prior week, 19yearold Kate DePillo drowned after a wave knocked her over.

Theresa May struck a deal with her Conservative Party late Saturday night to allow her to stay on as prime minister despite a vote of no confidence from her own party.

The deal will allow May to stay on as prime minister for a short period of time as the party scrambles to figure out who should be the new leader.

A Turkish court on Friday ordered that American pastor Andrew Brunson be freed from house arrest and allowed to return to the United States, according to the Associated Press.
