A long-planned project to bring Metro-North service to a transit-starved corridor of the Bronx is on track. Gov. Charles Hochul and other officials attended a ceremonial groundbreaking for the project. The project includes the construction of four new stations that will give Bronx residents direct access to Penn Station. The total cost of the project is estimated at $3.18 billion, up from previous estimate of $2.9 billion. Amtrak and New York State will contribute $500 million, with the MTA and Federal Railroad Administration matching funds.
