Professional Resignation Letter

Senator and present President of the U.S., Barack Obama. Through this letter, he resigned his post as the U.S. Senator in the State of Illinois to take up the coveted post of the President of America. The letter, hence is addressed to the then Governor of that state, Rod Blagojevich. It starts reverentially with the address “Honorable Governor”.

The letter is dated 13th November 2008, and he requests to accept his resignation with effect from 16th November. He intended to utilize the intervening period to prepare for the bigger role as the President of the country. The top right corner of the letter shows the departments Barack Obama was in-charge of as a Senator of the Illinois State. A copy of this letter has been forwarded to the Pro-tem President of the U.S. Senate, Robert C. Byrd, ostensibly, for information. The letter has been written on the official letter head of Barack Obama in his official capacity, and bears his signature at the end of it.

The letter is crisp, short, and to the point, but serves the purpose in full. It is a great specimen of top level political executive’s resignation letter.
