This week the PGA Tour is hosting the Farmers Insurance open at Torrey Pines, with defending champion Luke List and five of the top 10 players in the world in the field. Wednesday’s featured group includes John ROM, Tony Finau, and Justin Thomas teeing off at 1:40 pm Eastern.
At 12:30 pm Max Homa, Colin Morikawa, and last year’s runner-up Will Zalatoris get things going on the North Course, followed shortly by local favorite and San Diego State Alum, Sandra Shaw Flay with Hideki Matsuyama and JJ’s Pain.
PGA and PGA of America Show Partnership
The PGA show, in partnership with the PGA of America, kicked off today in Orlando. Matt Adams and Amy Rogers reported on the enthusiasm and importance of the event for the industry to come together.
The Rolex Series and Dubai Desert Classic
The Rolex Series continues in the Middle East for the Dubai Desert Classic, held at the Emirates Golf Club since 2001. Victor Hobbling is the defending champion, but not in the field this week. Rory McIlroy, the world’s number one player, will debut in the tournament in 2023. Other big Europeans include Shane Lowry, Tyrrell Hatton, and Tommy Fleetwood.
Andrew Cole from Sky Sports reported from the event on Rory McIlroy’s long layoff and the potential impact John Rabe’s hot start to the year could have on McIlroy. Patrick Reed, one of the many live players in the field, was seen today interacting with McIlroy.
Predictions
If Rory McIlroy doesn’t take the win, Andrew Cole predicts Terrell Harden, a young Australian Church (Manuel), or a sister of essays and brother of Minzhi Ali have a great chance at claiming the title.
