Former President Donald Trump bragged that Jan. 6 was his biggest crowd ever on Tuesday, despite the fact that hundreds of thousands of Americans took to the streets to protest his inauguration, his presidency, and his corrupt and racist agenda.
Trump made the claim while speaking at a rally in Melbourne, Florida, where he boasted that he had “almost” as many people as when he had won the Florida Republican primary in 2016.
“Look at this crowd. It’s incredible,” he said, before adding, “Look at the crowd we had… almost as many people as when I won the Florida primary.”
As he spoke, his crowd, which the Washington Post estimated at about 5,000, cheered, “Trump! Trump! Trump!” Read the Post’s full account of the rally here.
Earlier in the day, Trump had also bragged about his Jan. 6 crowd size in a tweet, insisting that there was “Super packed crowds” despite images from his own inauguration showing an almost entirely empty National Mall.
