• The cover letter is emphatic and persuasive to the reader to have a perusal of the curriculum vitae. This is because it is the first impression of the applicant to the prospective employer.
• The letter captures the relevant backgrounds that create a nexus with the prospective job. This is the inclusion of education, expertise and experience. There is need for precision and exactitude. It should also give the character of the applicant such as motivation, attitude, and the oral and written communication skills.
• It also offers all the information that is sought in the job advertisement that is not included in the curriculum vitae.
